Post-Merger Integration Strategy
The Situation
Stack'd was engaged by a US-based private equity group, to create an integration strategy for an acquisition into one of its platforms. The two companies, operating from Korea to Curacao, were international market leaders in underwater ship husbandry, and former joint-venture partners that previously severed their relationship. Additionally, the platform company’s previous acquisitions were never fully integrated, resulting in multiple ‘ways of operating’.
Our Approach
To support the integration of the new acquisition, and to address historical integration challenges in the platform company, the Stack’d team:
- Supported senior leaders to understand how each company operated historically, and what made each company successful;
- Supported functional leaders to establish and execute plans to integrate business functions to a single way of operating;
- Targeted cost and revenue synergies by providing visibility and holding leaders accountable for delivery;
- Assessed the drastically different cultures at each company and identified behavioral changes required for a desired culture; and,
- Advised, guided and mentored senior leaders through their first formal integration.
Value Received
